Man fatally stabbed remembered as ‘lost soul’

- By Pat Tomlinson

STAMFORD — Jimmy Louis was described by friends and family as the kind of guy who loved having in-depth conversations that would last for hours but only feel like minutes.

Friends and family of Louis are now in mourning, with those talks occurring only in memory.

On Aug. 18, Louis, 43, was found in a car on Hamilton Avenue in Stamford suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper body, police said. He later died from the injuries.

His death has since been ruled a homicide and is currently under investigation by Stamford detectives.

In his obituary, his family wrote that Louis was a “humble, caring, compassionate and very loving person.

“One day it will all make sense” Louis would often say to his friends and family,

according to his obituary.

“Jimmy was a great individual and always had some of the best conversations and an awesome sense of humor. He will be truly missed,” said Holly Gulyas, a friend of Louis.

Louis had a wife, Vilma “Lucky” Rodas-Louis, and seven children. One of his dreams in life, his family wrote in the obituary, was “to have all his children come together.”

“Jimmy was a lost soul who was slowly finding his way back to his family,” the obituary read.

Louis was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 5, 1978, and he lived there for a portion of his younger years before moving to Harlem, and then to Norwalk.

His family wrote that Louis, whose friends called him “Joubae,” was best known his “jovial and fun personality.”

In addition to loving long talks, Louis was also passionate about drawing, his obituary said.

“A vibrant life full of potential and possibilities was taken from us too soon. He was deeply loved and will truly be missed. His memory will live on through his kids, grandchild and all of you here today,” his obituary read.

Louis’ family will hold a wake from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. Saturday at the Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., in Stamford.
