Joseph Allen Dinnan

Joseph Allen Dinnan 88 of East Dennis MA. passed away on 8/26/21 at Cape Cod Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of 61 years to Lois Dinnan who died on Nov. 25th 2019.

Born in New Haven Ct. He was the son of the late James and Sadie Dinnan. He was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and New Haven State Teachers College. Following his graduation he taught for a year in New Haven. He was drafted into the Army. Upon completion of his service he returned to teaching in Stamford Ct. Joe met Lois in college, they married in 1958. They lived in Stamford and raised five children. Joe earned a Master’s Degree and a Sixth Year Certificat­e from Fairfield University. He taught at Roxbury School for five years before becoming an Assistant Principal at various schools. He retired in 1990 as an Assistant Principle where he began Roxbury School.

Lois and Joe moved to Cape Cod in 2000, having been part time residents since 1986. Joe was an avid a golfer and a long- time member of the Dennis Pines and Highlands golf courses. He served on the boards of The Friends of Dennis and Our Lady of the Cape Men’s Club. Joe loved spending time with his family and in his garden.

Joe was predecease­d by his wife Lois, a brother James and his grandson Erich Dinnan. He is survived by his sister Maureen Matyszewsk­i of Cheshire Ct. by his children Joseph Jr. and his wife Petra of Stratford Ct., Julia Anne of South Hadley Ma., Christophe­r of Daytona Beach Fl., Terrence and his wife Dawn of Dennis Ma, Jeffrey and his wife Magdalena of Stamford Ct. and several grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt. 134, South Dennis, MA on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Joe’s honor at Our Lady of the Cape Church at 11 AM.
