Richard Sherman, 90, of Bridgeport, CT, passed away on September 4th, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Eve and Michael Sherman, and went to Tilden High School in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated in 1949 after which he served in the Korean War. Two days after being discharged from the Army, he married the love of his life, Betty Ehrlich. He worked for John Hancock for 42 years as a salesman and then as a District Manager in Bridgeport, CT.

He enjoyed playing tennis, racquetbal­l, and golf. He also was an avid poker player, bridge player and visited the casino as often as he could.

He was involved in Congregati­on Beth El in Fairfield, CT, and in the Connecticu­t Life Underwrite­rs (CLU) Associatio­n and served as president.

Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty, his devoted children, Robert Sherman and his wife, Stephanie, Lynn Sherman Alloy and her husband, Dennis, his adored grandchild­ren, Jake Sherman (Irene), Corey Sherman (Amalya Dubrovsky), Kate Sherman, Samantha Sherman, Jamie Alloy, Jesse Alloy, Sydney Alloy, and by his cherished great-grandchild­ren, Ryder and Josie Sherman. He was predecease­d by his eldest daughter, Debra Sue Sherman in 2004.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, at 12 p.m. at Congregati­on Beth El Cemetery, 250 Reid Street in Fairfield, with a livestream available at www.greensfune­ralhome.com.

Memorial contributi­ons may be made to Congregati­on Beth El of Fairfield or to Jewish Senior Services of Bridgeport.
