Stamford ceremony

- — Pat Tomlinson

Stamford police will hold a ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, outside of their headquarters Saturday morning. Deputy Chief Silas Redd said the Stamford Police Department’s ceremony will be held beneath the American flag on the department’s front lawn.

The ceremony will begin at 8:45 a.m. — the exact time the first plane struck the first tower of the World Trade Center — with a moment of silence, Redd said.

After, the police department’s chaplain, the Rev. John Revell, will recite a prayer, followed by some words from other department members.

The ceremony is open to the public.
