- By Michael Fornabaio

Several CIAC girls swimming championship meets, including the State Open, have moved from college facilities and are expected to be held to Cornerstone Aquatics Center in West Hartford.

The Open moves from Yale to Cornerstone and moves back one day to Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. The Class M meet on Nov. 16 and the Class S meet on Nov. 17 move from Wesleyan to Cornerstone, with both meets at 6 p.m.

Classes LL and L remain set for Southern Connecticut.

“In conversations with Yale, we just weren’t able to confirm some dates and confirm we would be able to get on campus,” CIAC executive director Glenn Lungarini said.

The CIAC did not hold state championships in fall 2020 or winter 2020-21 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Boys swim meets at Wesleyan and Yale were among the competitions canceled on March 10, 2020, when Connecticut became the first state to suspend athletics.
