Virginia (Marin) Becker, 91, passed away on September 13, 2021, in Nashville, TN after a brief illness.

Born on June 3, 1930 in Victoria, Chile to the late Julio and Herna Marin, Virginia moved to the United States in 1955 where she had earned a scholarshi­p, and ultimately her Bachelor of Music Degree from Southweste­rn College in Winfield, KS. It is here she met her late husband, Clair J Becker. Following earning her Master’s of Music in Voice degree from the University of Colorado College of Music, Virginia and Clair ultimately settled in East Lyme, CT to raise their family.

Virginia loved our beautiful country and was the first of the Marin family to immigrate to the United States. She was followed closely by her mother, siblings, and their families. One of the happiest days of her life was when she became a U.S. citizen in 1997.

Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-inlaw, Anita and Ted Zerafa of Cumming, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Tracy Becker of Hebron, CT; brother, Julio Marin of Nashville, TN; twin sister and brother-in-law, Erna and Edison Montero, of Stamford, CT; sisters-in-law Caroline Whipple of Claremont,

CA; Glee Becker of Pratt, KS; Norma Marin of Nashville, TN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is pre-deceased by her sister Graciela Aravena. Her laugh, beautiful soprano voice, and cut-throat games of Rummikub will be deeply missed by her large Chilean family.

On Sunday, October 10,2021 at 1:00 p.m., a celebratio­n of life will be held at First United Methodist Church (42 Cross Rd., Stamford, CT 06905) immediatel­y followed by a small graveside service at Fairfield Memorial Park (230 Oaklawn Ave., Stamford, CT 06905).

To honor her love of children and passion for charitable giving, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online (stjude.org) or by mail (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
