HAMDEN — A Quinnipiac University student died overnight at his offcampus home, according to university officials.

The student was identified as Cristian Caamano, 20, of Manhasset, N.Y., a fourth-year entrepreneurship student in the School of Business, according to a message to the community Wednesday.

“This is a terrible loss for Cristian’s family and friends, and for our community,” said Holly Raider, dean of the school of business, and Monique Drucker, school vice president and dean of students. “We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends and to our community.”

Raider and Drucker said students seeking help with their grief can contact Counseling Services at 203-5828680, while faculty and staff can receive assistance through Health Advocate, the university’s aid program for employees, at 866-7992728.

“Grieving can impact us in different ways and our friends and colleagues can be helpful in lending an ear or giving their time, particularly when we let them know it is needed,” Raider and Drucker said in the message.

“We are a supportive

Bobcat family – please let us know if we or our colleagues can be helpful to you as we extend our deepest sympathies during this time of sadness and grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with Cristian’s family.”

Hamden police Detective Sean Dolan said in an email that Hamden officers and firefighters responded to a Whitney Avenue residence for a report of an unresponsive 20-year-old Quinnipiac student around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The student was found in the 4400-block of Whitney Avenue near the Cheshire town line, Chief of Police John Sullivan said.

The young man received medical assistance from firefighters, but was pronounced dead at the scene, Dolan said. His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington for an autopsy.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, the untimely death appears to be an isolated incident and no foul play is suspected. The OCME is assisting with this investigation and will determine the cause and manner of death,” said Dolan.

Detective Andrew Lipford is investigating the matter, Dolan said.
