Adele Bromley
September 14, 2021
Adele Bromley, beloved daughter of Betty and Harry Tates, wife of Irwin Bromley, and mother of sons Alan, Michael, and Hank Bromley, passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of September 14, in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 93.
Adele was predeceased by her parents and by her sons Alan and Michael, and is survived by her husband of 72 years, Irwin; her son Hank; her daughters-in-law Cynthia Dore-Bromley, Ellen (Epstein) Bromley, Susan (Gunn) Bromley, and Susan Jenkins; her grandchildren Adam Bromley (Alexandra [Sabellico] Bromley), David Bromley, Alison (Bromley) Bromski (Stephen [Siviski] Bromski), Sara Bromley (Steven Seide), Matt Bromley (Elizabeth [Sunny] Bromley), Melissa Bromley (Michael McDonough), and Edward Murphy; and eight great-grandchildren.
Adele was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1927, and graduated from Kings County Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She practiced as a
Registered Nurse in many settings over the years in New York, Connecticut, and Florida, and after retiring worked as a volunteer an additional 25 years at Jupiter Medical Center, while also maintaining the library at her senior residence.
She will be remembered fondly for sharing her constant supply of tic-tacs and lifesaver mints, her love of reading and card games, her meticulous organizational and planning skills, and her integrity, sharp-mindedness, and independence of thought. Also long-cherished by her northern grandchildren will be their annual winter visits to Grandma and Grandpa in Florida, and the epic family gatherings held on every fifth anniversary of her marriage to Irwin.
Memorial services and internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Tisch MS Research Center of New York (tischms.org) or to a charity of your choice.
