Islanders sign four players

The New York Islanders announced Monday that defenseman Paul LaDue and forwards Andy Andreoff, Cole Bardreau, Otto Koivula and Dmytro Timashov agreed to terms on contracts.

NHL salary-cap tracking site CapFriendly reported last week that Bardreau received a two-year contract while the others agreed to one-year deals.

Bardreau, Koivula and Timashov played in the AHL for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last season; Bardreau led the team in the shortened season with 10 goals and 16 assists. Timashov had 11 points in 22 AHL games in his fifth pro season, and Koivula scored nine in 20 games in his third pro season in North America.

The AHL team changed its name to Islanders shortly after last season ended.

Andreoff, 30, played the past two seasons in the Philadelphia organization. This will be his 10th pro year. He spent the first six in the Los Angeles organization.

LaDue, 29, was also a Kings draft pick. This will be his sixth pro season. He spent four with Los Angeles and last year with Washington.

Both newcomers have NHL experience, 69 games for LaDue and 179 for Andreoff, who has 147 points in 274 career AHL games with Manchester, Syracuse and Lehigh Valley.

Bridgeport’s season opens Oct. 15.
