Stamford man charged in August shooting

STAMFORD — A 20-year-old Stamford man has been charged in an August shooting that left one man injured, police said.

Keegan Bowes was charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with an Aug. 20 shooting in the Glenbrook section of the city.

Capt. Richard Conklin said Bowes allegedly shot a 24-year-old man in the hand during a dispute in the rear parking lot of an apartment complex on Glenbrook Road.

The man suffered a fractured hand in the shooting, according to a warrant for Bowes’ arrest.

In the warrant, the victim told police he was walking north on Valley Road with a friend when a “powder blue Hyundai” pulled into the complex’s parking lot and two men got out.

The warrant said one of the men, later identified as Bowes, pulled out a gun with a green laser sight and allegedly fired one shot at the victim. The two men then hopped back in the vehicle and fled the scene, the warrant said.

The victim told investigators that he knew Bowes and had purchased marijuana from him multiple times in the past few years, according to the warrant. The victim also admitted he owed Bowes about $500 for marijuana he had bought nearly two years earlier, the warrant said.

Bowes was picked up in Westchester County, N.Y., where Conklin said he was being held in connection to a “gang-related assault and stabbing” in that area. When Bowes posted bond in New York on Monday, Stamford officers were there to transport him back to Connecticut.

On Tuesday, Bowes was released from custody in Stamford after posting $200,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court here on Sept. 23.
