COVID-19 cases are down week over week

NEW CANAAN — Only five COVID-19 cases in town have been reported as of Thursday, down from 12 last week, according to a weekly update by First Selectman Kevin Moynihan.

Those testing positive ranged in age from 25 to 65 and the main sources of the spread of the infection was from “friend contacts and travel,” the update said.

The report does not include students who are away at college.

As of Friday, the New Canaan Public Schools dashboard reported one Saxe Middle School student with a “positive confirmed” case and 12 students in the district in quarantine. Of those in quarantine, five are from South Elementary School, two are from New Canaan High School, two from the middle school, two from West School and one from East School.

Residents who are eligible for the Pfizer third booster dose can register with the Health Department and are asked to remember to bring a COVID-19 vaccinatio­n cards or print out from VAMS or CT WIZ as proof of previous vaccinatio­ns.

Any senior in need of assistance with registerin­g for the Pfizer booster vaccinatio­n clinic may call the Health Department at 203594-3037.
