NEW CANAAN — Police say they are searching for the owner of a dog that bit someone trying to get the dog out of the road over the weekend.

Around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, a person was bitten by a small, white dog with a black electric fence collar while trying to get the dog out of the road, police said. The dog ran off.

Police said it happened in the area of Ponus Ridge Road and Bennington Place, adding that animal control is looking for the dog’s owner to confirm the dog is vaccinated against rabies.
