Alan Kalter died peacefully on October 4, at Stamford Hospital, with Peggy, his beloved wife and his daughters, Lauren Hass and Diana Binger at his side.

He leaves behind his beloved brother, Gary (wife Nancy), sons-in-law, Dr. David Hass and Scott Binger, grandchild­ren, Samantha, Ethan and Jordan Hass, Isabelle and Owen Binger; his many nieces and nephews, innumerabl­e friends, golf buddies, and past Late Show co-workers. Alan was born in New York City on 3/21/43 and grew up in Little Neck located in Queens with his parents, Erwin and Doris Kalter and brother Gary.

He started his broadcast career in college with a local radio station.

Then post-graduation, he did full time broadcasti­ng when a popular NYC radio station beckoned and that led to full-time television work including 20 years with the David Letterman show.

Alan was a past president of TBE and a true mensch, who was deeply committed to Jewish values and the Jewish people and was especially devoted to this, his home community.

A private funeral will be held at Temple Beth El on Wednesday at noon.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers or food baskets, that memorial donations be made to Temple Beth El/Rabbi’s Mitzvah Fund at 350 Roxbury Rd., Stamford, CT 06902, SilverSour­ce 2009 Summer Street in Stamford, Ct 06905 or the charity of your choice.
