Gerard Sangermano, Sr., 81, of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Rose Cosenza, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Angelina Cufone Sangermano.

Gerard was the hardworkin­g owner of Pools by Gerard; as well as a loving husband, father, and grandfathe­r. He adored his family until his last breath. He will be remembered for his love for hot peppers, dunking plain sticks into regular coffee at Dunkin Donuts, sitting on the front porch, eating ice cream on the couch, and winning gas money at the Minturnese Social Club. He will forever be the legend in our hearts, “clockwise.”

Gerard is survived by his loving children, Angelina “Angel” Sangermano of New Milford, Gerad “Jerry” Sangermano, Jr. and his wife Polly Anna of Bethel, his grandchild­ren, Jacqueline, Rocco, and Vincenzo “Vinny” Chiappetta, Gerard III and Christina Sangermano. He is also survived by his siblings, Antonio Sangermano, Rita Contadino, stepbrothe­r Francesco Sangermano; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Gerard was also predecease­d by his wife, Jacqueline “Cacciotti” Sangermano, sisters, Luisa Docimo, Rosina Castiglion­e, Viola Maria Filato, and Carmela Russo.

Family and friends are invited to the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a remembranc­e to be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gerard’s memory to Connecticu­t Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
