STAMFORD — A 45year-old man was beaten and robbed early Friday morning in the city’s East Side, according to police.

Sgt. Mike Franzetti said the man was on Myrtle Avenue, beneath the I-95 overpass, around 12:30 a.m. Friday when he was approached by another man.

The other man began talking to the victim when, out of nowhere, he punched the victim in the face, Franzetti said.

That’s when, Franzetti said, a second man came up from behind the victim, threw him to the ground and robbed him of his wallet and cellphone.

The two men then fled the scene on foot.

Franzetti said the victim suffered cosmetic injuries including a cut on his lip. He did not seek medical treatment.

The robbery is under investigation by Stamford’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
