Stamford Health receives $5 million donation for NICU
STAMFORD — A $5 million donation from a foundation launched by a Greenwich couple will be committed to supporting the neonatal intensive care unit at Stamford Health, according to the health network.
Stamford Health announced Monday that it received a $5 million commitment from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation.
The donation will help fund the modernization of the Whittingham Pavilion on Stamford Health’s Bennett Medical Center Campus, specifically the neonatal intensive care unit. The funds will go toward the expansion of other services and programs throughout Stamford Health, all areas focused on providing the most improved care for women and children, officials said.
“All of us at Stamford Health are so grateful for the continuous support from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation,” said a statement from Kathleen Silard, president and CEO of Stamford Health. “This donation is a huge step forward and will help improve the expert, patient-centered care that we deliver, especially to our most fragile patients, those in the NICU.”
Silard said the Cohens are longstanding supporters of Stamford Health.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Stamford Health and are proud to help the hospital continue to improve its services to our community, including delivering the highest level of care for families and their newborns,” Alexandra Cohen, president of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, said in a statement.
Stamford Health’s NICU is a level three neonatal intensive care unit. The unit is staffed by neonatologists, nurses and pediatric specialists.
