Darien native Chloe Sevigny returns home to get married

- By Andrew DaRosa

Two years after her New York courthouse wedding to art gallery director Sinisa Makovic, actress Chloe Sevigny returned to her hometown of Darien for a second wedding ceremony last week.

The wedding, which took place May 15, was held at the Talmadge Hill Community Church in Darien, according to the Daily Mail. Wedding guests included “Russian Doll” co-star Natasha Lyonne, former Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon and YouTube’s head of fashion and beauty Derek Blasberg.

From the ceremony site in Darien, the couple hopped into a Mercedes convertible adorned with a “Just Married” sign and soda cans to New Canaan’s Waveny House, where Makovic and Sevigny held their reception.

Sevigny, a Darien native, grew up in the area; she was born in Springfield, Mass. She attended Darien High School and was heavily involved in the theater arts, even attending theater camp. At one point in time, Sevigny babysat fellow Darienite and “That ‘70s Show” actor Topher Grace, according to People.

The actress told the Darien Times in 2019 that she still frequents the town often to visit her mother and her brother. She also said that she has kept a number of friendships, some of them since kindergarten, that have become “constants in my life and I love and cherish them.”

“I come back a few times a month. I love having this small town to come back to and seeing people I’ve known my entire life. I’m so in love with my nephews. We go to Post Corner Pizza, and the (Weed) beach playground, and Darien Butcher shop. I’m bumping into people all the time. There are fun things happening around town,” Sevigny told the Darien Times.

Sevigny has made a television acting resurgence in 2022 with prominent roles in “Russian Doll” and Hulu’s “The Girl from Plainville.” Her upcoming film “Bones and All,” which is based on the book of the same name by author Camille DeAngelis, will feature “Dune” star Timothée Chalamet and “The Staircase” actor Michael Stuhlbarg.
