Douglas Randall Larsen
Doug Larsen, 53, of Stamford, died peacefully at his home on December 2nd, after a long, valiant and ultimately tragic battle with Cancer. He was born on January 29, 1969, in Newport Beach, CA and is a graduate of Greenwich High School.
Doug is survived by his devoted longtime partner, Sharon Steedman; his father and stepmother, Don and Tanya Larsen of Newport Beach, CA; his mother, Pam Patterson; brother, Don Larsen, Jr.; sister, Stacey Larsen; stepsisters, Tiffany Coyne and Tara Gay all also of Newport or Laguna Beach CA, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members, all of whom he cared for dearly. Doug is also survived by hundreds of friends and colleagues around the world and his best friends, Mike Thiessen and Tim Lyons and their families, of Glastonbury and Stamford, CT, respectively.
Doug was tragically predeceased by his niece, Naomi, but knowing that they are now together is comforting to those that knew them. One of Doug’s greatest joys was spending time with his loyal Dog Sam who also predeceased him.
Doug spent his life in the construction industry, working in senior roles at various firms, and never encountered a project or a problem too complex for him to solve. He was considered family in that close-knit construction community. His greatest passions were boating and fishing around Long Island sound, improving his marksmanship at the range, music, history, and cooking gourmet meals for friends and family; the Thanksgiving meal being his particular specialty. Doug Larsen was a legend and a warrior and an irreplaceable someone gone way too soon. His zest for life was infectious. Doug lives on in all of those that he knew in an unforgettable way and will be sorely missed.
A private family Celebration of Doug’s Life is being organized this spring in California, as is a gathering of friends in CT. Please keep sharing your memories of Doug, raise a glass and keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his journey.
