Marilyn Gehring - forever 56-1/2 years young - (really 94) passed into the final chapter of her journey peacefully at home on December 8, 2022. Her family lovingly and courageously managed her care until her passing. Mom had a color-full life to say the least! Marilyn owned and operated The Stained Glass Apple in Stamford for the last 38 years, which brought her endless gratification. She was surrounded by her colorful glass and her beautiful creations. Throughout her life she brought much joy and knowledge to her countless students, customers, patrons, friends and family.

Predeceased by her husband Donald, Marilyn leaves behind four “queens” and a “prince”, as she always liked to say: Christine (Robert Wolf ), Diana, Marianne (Bill Smith), Carl (Denise), and Sally (David Bocchetta). She has 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and her two devoted pets - Lil Buddy and Joey the cat.

Marilyn graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a Fine Arts degree. Early on, she was a tailor and a seamstress, running her business as “The Sewing Lady”. She also worked at various retail stores until she found her real passion stained glass.

Her passing touches us all and inspires greatness in those who knew her well.

In honor of her spirit and outlook on life, she requested only bright colors be worn at her service to celebrate her amazing life and legacy.

Family and friends will gather at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 241 Courtland Ave, Stamford, CT on Saturday December 17, 2022 at 11 am. The wake is there from 11 – 1, with a celebration of life service immediately following at 1. Refreshments and tributes will be in the church hall basement immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
