Frances Jean Johnstone’s Obituary

Jeannie Johnstone, 95, of Boynton Beach, FL, longtime Stamford resident, passed away on May 2, 2023. She was born on January 4, 1928, in Greenwich, CT, to Madeleine Persson and was beloved by both her mother and stepfather, Freddy Persson. Jeannie, also known as Frances Jean Johnstone, was a loving wife, devout Roman Catholic, with a good sense of humor, and loved babies and dogs, especially her collie, Peggy. She enjoyed music and dancing, especially with her husband, Jim. She served on the Board of the Stamford American Little League for many years and taught CCD at St. Bridget’s. She had a passion for travel, especially to Las Vegas. Jeannie was also a big Yankees fan.

Jeannie attended St. John’s Primary School in Stamford, CT, and graduated from Stamford High School. Her career included various positions at Yale & Towne and Blaikie, Miller, and Hines. However, Jeannie’s most significan­t career accomplish­ment was being a foster mother to three children.

Jeannie was a member of St. Bridget of Ireland Church in Stamford, CT, where a service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10:30 am. The address is 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vitas Hospice and Palliative Care, 1901 South Congress Avenue, Suite 420, Boynton Beach, FL 33426.

Jeannie is survived by her children, Doreen Flood of West Palm Beach, Florida, James K. Johnstone III, of Stamford, Connecticu­t, Lori Adelman of Darien, CT and daughter-in-law, Debbie Johnstone, son-in-law, Frank Adelman, grandchild­ren, Franci Swanson, Steven M. Flood, Alex Adelman, Emma Adelman, Ryan Adelman, Sara Adelman, great-granddaugh­ter, Brittany Harrington, greatgreat-grandson, Weston Harrington, and many nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by her husband, James K. Johnstone, Jr., great-granddaugh­ter, Haley Swanson, son-in-law Steven D. Flood, brothers, Lawrence Hogan and Gerald Hogan, mother, Madeleine Persson, and stepfather, Freddy Persson. Legacy.com
