Ethos Greek Festival set to begin in Stamford Thursday
The 45th annual Ethos Greek Festival in Stamford has been announced for June 1-4.
The event is put on by the Greek Orthodox Church of Stamford and is held at the church, located at 1230 Newfield Ave. Per the festival website, its mission is “to create a celebratory, family-friendly event that shares Orthodox faith and Hellenic culture — authentic Greek food, traditional dancing and music — with the entire community.”
Thursday, June 1 and Friday, June 2, the Greek Festival will run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday, June 3, it will run from noon to 11 p.m. and on Sunday, June 4, the festival will run from noon to 8 p.m.
Festival activities include fair rides, Greek cuisine, face painting, traditional music and dancing and more. There will also be a raffle at $25 per entry. Winners can get various restaurant gift cards or gift baskets, and there is a $10,000 cash grand prize. The drawing will be on the last day of the festival, June 4, at 8 p.m.
Carnival ride tickets cost is $1.50 each, $30 for a sheet of 22 and $60 for a sheet of 49. All day unlimited ride wristbands are $30 each.
Local sponsors to the event include restaurants like Ridgefield’s Gyro on Pita and Stamford’s Kouzina Greek Taverna & Bar. Proceeds from the festival fund a “significant portion” of the church’s operating expenses and allows it to focus on local and national charitable organizations.
