SOFTBALL TOP PERFORMERS
Sydney Adolfson, Newtown:
Threw complete game shutouts in three victories to lead Nighthawks to SWC championship. Pitched 18 innings and allowed no runs on six hits and no walks while striking out 31. She also hit a home run in the SWC championship game.
Stella Blanchard, Southington:
Senior pitched 12 shutout innings in the CCC tournament, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out 22 as Southington won its third straight title.
Grace Carrington, Amity-Woodbridge:
Homered in first two games of SCC tournament, including a seventh inning go-ahead solo home run to lift Amity past Law, 3-2, in the SCC semifinals. She has 10 home runs this season.
Alyssa Digiovanna, North Haven: Hit two home runs in SCC opening round against West Haven and scored twice in the semifinal victory over Cheshire. In the championship game she had two hits, including a triple, and scored twice.
Keyleigh Flaherty, Ellington:
Earned the save in the NCCC championship game, completing the final three innings of 1-0 win and allowing just two hits while striking out three. She also went 4-for-7 with three doubles, two RBIs and two runs
scored in two NCCC games.
Tess Juniver, North Branford: Hit a walk-off three-run home run in the 13th inning of a 7-4 Shoreline semifinal win over Cromwell. Juniver would also go on to homer in the championship game as North Branford captured its eighth straight title.
Alex Lewey, Fairfield Ludlowe:
Held Trumbull to one run over five innings in the FCIAC semifinal, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out seven. Then in the FCIAC championship was named MVP after throwing 5.1 shutout innings on four hits and two walks while striking out four and driving in the game winning run on a sacrifice fly.
Riley McDermott, St. Joseph-Trumbull:
The first baseman went 5-for-8 in three FCIAC tournament games with three RBIs, four runs scored and three stolen bases as St. Joseph advanced to the championship game.
Alexx Reinwald, Amity: With two outs and Amity trailing by one run, Reinwald drove in two to give Amity the 7-6 lead over North Haven in the SCC championship game.
MeKenzie Revere, O'Brien Tech-Ansonia:
Threw a five-inning no-hitter with 13 strikeouts in the CTC semifinals to defeat Kaynor Tech 12-0.
Sam Sosnovich, Woodland-Beacon Falls: Sosnovich threw a perfect game with 15 strikeouts while also hitting two home runs with three RBIs and four runs scored in the NVL semifinal.
Shay Webb, Oxford: After losing to Woodland in the Class M championship last season, Webb threw a complete game shutout to snap Woodland’s 49-game winning streak and win the NVL championship 3-0. Webb allowed three hits and one walk while striking out six batters. She also had two hits and a RBI in the championship.
