Greenwich GOP’s ‘ethos, initiatives, and objectives’
I wish to respond to Alma Rutgers’ recent column, which criticizes the Greenwich Republicans for our perceived preoccupation with former President Donald Trump, while seemingly overlooking concerns about mounting corrupt actions of the Biden family. Rutgers’ unfounded commentary on Greenwich Republicans appears to be colored by a particular lens, focusing heavily on her impression of a Trump-obsessed party without ever engaging with our leadership, four moms and a retired police officer, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the party’s ethos, initiatives, and objectives.
Our dedication to our town’s welfare and commitment to serving the needs of all our residents shine through in actions and initiatives. A pertinent example of our party’s diverse amalgamation of individuals who champion a common-sense approach to governance is demonstrated by our full slate of incumbents and new candidates for the upcoming municipal elections on Nov. 7. Especially evident on the Board of Estimate and Taxation, our slate includes many women and men hailing from various cultural backgrounds with a blend of ethnicities. This is in stark contrast to the homogeneity of our Democrat counterparts.
The current enthusiastic engagement of Republicans in Greenwich is commendable, with a vibrant mix of young and senior members dedicated to upholding parents’ rights and maintaining the town’s fiscal responsibility to continue to deliver all those services that keep Greenwich unique, affordable, and home. This is the sentiment that resonates deeply with many Republicans who seek to safeguard our town’s autonomy from Hartford’s progressive extremes such as building high rises, defunding police, oversexualizing of young children with explicit books, focusing on gender dysphoria, or destroying girls opportunities/competition in sports.
Our party appeals to young and seniors, indicates our capacity to bridge generational divides and cater to the diverse needs of the town’s residents. It is crucial to remember that the residents of Greenwich cherish their unique town and its values. The aversion to undue influence from Hartford, as well as concerns about zoning and development, is not merely a political stance but a reflection of a shared desire to preserve our town’s character.
In conclusion, Alma, I encourage you to embrace the principles of balance and well-informed journalism that values a wide range of perspectives. Engaging with local leaders, board members and representatives from all parties can provide you with a more comprehensive understanding of the political landscape. This approach will undoubtedly enrich your articles and contribute to a healthier and more productive discourse within our community.
