Ann Dolores Kaplan Lasnick of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and formerly of Stamford, Connecticu­t died Saturday morning after a brief illness. She was 89.

Ann, a loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r devoted her time to her family foremost. She loved being a mother first and then a grandmothe­r better known as Mema.

She was born in Harrisburg, PA on August 1, 1934 and raised in Anderson, SC. She graduated Stephen’s College in 1953 and University of Miami in 1955. Next, it was off to NYC where she worked and enjoyed all that New York had to offer including her love of the theatre. Making her way back to Anderson in 1957 and with the help of an eager “yenta” Aunt she was introduced to Julius Lasnick who became the love of her life for the next 65 years. They were married on July 20, 1958, in Anderson, SC.

At a young age she was an avid athlete who engaged in many sports including horseback riding, golf, and bowling. As an adult she loved reading, needlework, knitting and sewing her own clothes. She was a beautiful writer and had a gift for designing cards and mementos and writing rhyming poems tailored to the situation and/ or person.

Family meant a lot to her as she maintained a close supportive relationsh­ip with her youngest sister Rita and enjoyed many years of partnershi­p in “Nights of the Round Table”, a party linen and décor business started by her sister Joyce. Oh, the stories and fun they had.

She is survived by her husband Julius Lasnick, 94, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Two children, David Lasnick of Stamford CT and Laurie Lasnick Gayda of Peru Vermont and their spouses Beth Dempsey and Michael Gayda. Her five grandchild­ren: Rachael Lasnick, Ryan Lasnick, Sydney Gayda, Andrew Gayda and Carly Gayda all who adored their loving and witty “Mema”. As well as by her sisters, Rita Kaplan, Hedgesvill­e, WV and Joyce Kaplan Lender, Pebble Beach, CA.

Family and close friends will gather on Wednesday, December 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Beth El Cemetery, 360 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT
