Stephen Drosdeck

Stephen Drosdeck of Interloche­n, MI passed away on June 17th, 2023. He grew up in Stamford and Norwalk, CT. After graduating from Stamford Catholic High School, Stephen received a B.A. in Child Developmen­t and Psychology from Connecticu­t College and a Master’s Degree in Education and Child Study from Smith College.

Stephen began his career as an elementary school teacher at St. Michael’s and All Angels in Studio City, CA and later held directorsh­ip positions at several independen­t schools including: Gill St. Bernard’s, Bernardsvi­lle, NJ; Hawken School, Cleveland, OH; Shady Hill School in Cambridge, MA; and Old Trail School in Akron, OH. He participat­ed in the Fulbright Administra­tive Exchange program in 2003-2004, traveling to and working in Bratislava, Slovakia. Stephen retired in 2016.

Stephen possessed a passion for helping others. In his retirement years he was a committed CASA volunteer who advocated for children in the foster care system in Grand Traverse County, MI and a devoted and dependable volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Food Rescue of Northern Michigan and The Goodwill Inn in Traverse City.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen P. Drosdeck and Marie Lionetti Drosdeck Girardi, and stepfather George W. Girardi. He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Tyler and his wife Maria; son, Devon and his partner Sarah; and granddaugh­ter, Rosella. He also leaves behind sisters Cynthia and Mary, stepsister Emily, brother Andrew, stepbrothe­rs George and Victor and many nieces and nephews.
