Leach, Fairfield take down Siena

FAIRFIELD — Jalen Leach scored 21 points as Fairfield beat Siena 88-64 on Sunday.

Leach added nine rebounds for the Stags (1810, 12-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Brycen Goodine was 4 of 6 shooting, including 3 for 5 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 5 from the line to add 15 points. Caleb Fields had 14 points and was 5 of 11 shooting (4 for 8 from 3-point range).

Mason Courtney led the way for the Saints (423, 3-13) with 13 points and seven rebounds. Brendan Coyle added 13 points for Siena. Giovanni Emejuru also had 11 points.

Rider 88, Quinnipiac 78: At Lawrencevi­lle, N.J., Mervin James' 30 points led Rider past Quinnipiac 88-78 on Sunday.

James shot 10 of 18 from the field and 9 for 9 from the line for the Broncs (1216, 9-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic

Conference). Tariq Ingraham added 17 points while shooting 7 of 11 from the field and 3 for 5 from the line, and he also had five rebounds. Allen Powell shot 5 for 10, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc to finish with 13 points.

The Bobcats (19-8, 11-5) were led in scoring by Amarri Tice, who finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Alexis Reyes added 17 points for Quinnipiac. Rihards Vavers also had 12 points.

Saturday Yale 84, Columbia 76:

At New York, Danny Wolf and Matt Knowling each scored 20 points to help Yale defeat Columbia on Saturday night.

Wolf added nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (18-8, 9-2 Ivy League). Knowling added five rebounds and seven assists. John Poulakidas finished with 18 points.

Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa led the Lions (13-11, 4-7) in scoring, finishing with 23 points. Columbia also got 16 points from Zavian McLean and 12 from Blair Thompson.

CCSU 68, Sacred Heart 67: At Fairfield, Tre Breland III's 21 points helped Central Connecticu­t State defeat Sacred Heart on Saturday.

Two free throws by Davonte Sweatman with two seconds remaining gave CCSU a four-point lead.

Breland also added six rebounds and three steals for the Blue Devils (17-10, 11-3 Northeast Conference). Allan JeanneRose scored 16 points while going 6 of 9 and 4 of 8 from the free throw line. Jordan Jones shot 2 for 9 (1 for 4 from 3-point range) and 4 of 6 from the free throw line to finish with nine points.
