Nothing has been scandalous about Tony Goldwyn’s present position in the world of “Law & Order.”

A member of a storied family that includes his late movie-producer father, Samuel Goldwyn Jr. (“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” 2003), and his studio-titan grandfather, Samuel Goldwyn (the Goldwyn of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer), the actor-producer-director has succeeded longtime “Law & Order” cast member Sam Waterston as the district attorney on the NBC drama series that’s currently in the third season of its revival on Thursdays. Goldwyn is playing DA Nicholas Baxter, whose thoughts often are unsettlingly covert to his prosecution team of Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy, “Hannibal”) and Samantha Maroun (Odelya Halevi, “Black Adam,” 2022).

However, this current job isn’t the first time Goldwyn has had a

After four decades, there’s a lot to tell when it comes to tracing the musical path of Bon Jovi.

One of rock’s most enduring bands, Bon Jovi is the subject of “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” a documentary series that begins streaming all four of its episodes Friday, April 26, on Hulu and (in Canada) Disney+. Of course, lead singer Jon Bon Jovi is a key interviewee in the program, which sees the group members try to plan their future as they also reflect on the personal and professional times they’ve had. Richie Sambora, Tico Torres and David Bryan are among Bon Jovi veterans who also offer comments, as do Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi’s wife, Dorothea, and brother Matt.

The timing of “Thank You, Goodnight” is somewhat bittersweet, since Jon Bon Jovi recently revealed that he might not tour connection to the Law & Order franchise. He directed a 2006 episode of the parent series (“Thinking Makes It So”) about the pursuit of a kidnapping suspect, then he played the half-brother of Det. Robert Goren (Vincent D’Onofrio, “Echo”) as a recurring guest star in “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” The last of his appearances there was in 2007, undoubtedly giving executive producer Dick Wolf confidence in casting Goldwyn in a different and substantial role in the Law & Order universe now.

When it comes to television credits, though, Goldwyn’s primary one remains President Fitzgerald Grant III in “Scandal.” He played the part throughout the seven-season run of the Shonda Rhimes-created-and-produced ABC political drama, also directing nine episodes of the show along the way. Goldwyn has called the shots, literally, on various shows and several feature films over the years, and it wouldn’t be a surprise again, given vocal cord surgery that he underwent in 2022 — an operation that the program deals with. He has said he has been recovering and working toward possibly doing a concert schedule in 2025, but that plan remains questionable. Meanwhile, he is slated to release the album “Forever” in early June, and he has noted that he was able to accomplish it by taking his time in making it.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first band that New Jersey native Bon Jovi (born John Bongiovi Jr.) formed, Raze, which he followed several years later with Atlantic City Expressway

— of which keyboardist David Bryan also was a member. John Bongiovi and the Wild Ones was the next group for Jon Bon Jovi, then came a group he named The Rest. Finally, the band named Bon Jovi was established in 1983, with guitarist Richie Sambora and

The single “Runaway” earned Bon Jovi early attention, and the band’s popularity was cemented by the success of their third album, “Slippery When Wet” (1986), which yielded the No. 1 hits “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer.” From there, the group became a staple not only of the recording industry but also the concert circuit, and the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

“Bad Medicine” and “I’ll Be There for You” are among other musical hallmarks of the Bon Jovi catalog, which is represented by 15 studio albums and three live albums as well as five compilation releases. The group’s other honors include a Grammy, a Billboard Music Award, two American Music Awards (one being the Award of Merit), two World Music Awards, two CMT Music Awards, and Bon Jovi and Sambora’s membership in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Clearly, there is much to be said about Bon Jovi, and its members both past and present will say it as “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” debuts at a critical point in its subject’s tuneful history.
