Sandra Stolley December 28, 1933 - May 4, 2024

Mansfield, Texas - Sandy Stolley Obituary Sandra Lee Powers Stolley of Mansfield transcended to her Maker on May 4, 2024. Born on December 28, 1933, she lived to the ripe age of 90. Sandy was born in Davenport, Iowa to Phillip Daniel Powers, Sr. and Verna Eleanor Brady Powers, both of whom predeceased her. In 1951, she graduated from high school at the Immaculate Conception Academy in Davenport. Two years later, she obtained a nursing de-gree and a certification as a Registered Nurse from St. Ambrose College, also in Davenport. On December 31, 1955, she married her life-long love, John Hugh “Jack” Stolley, who survives her after a 68-year marriage. As Sandy would say, it was “68 years of bliss.” Sandy was a devoted wife and a loving, supportive mother to her five children, all of whom survive her — Scott P. Stolley of Dallas, Gregory J. Stolley of Grand Prairie, Mathew P. Stolley of Fort Worth, Kimberly M. Bacchus (married to Robert G. Bacchus) of Arlington, and Christopher C. Stolley of Mansfield. She is also survived by her brother, Phillip

D. Powers, Jr. of Davenport and her three grandchildren — Megan P. Stolley of Hunt, Texas, Brady Bacchus Raney (married to Wylder Raney) of Dallas, and Brooks Bacchus of Euless. Sandy and Jack started their family in Davenport, but in January 1975, they took a plunge by moving to Mans-field. They became the second family to move into the Walnut Creek Addition. They immersed themselves into the Mansfield community and made many friends, as was their nature. Sandy started her own custom drapery business (S&S Draperies) out of the family home. Her beautiful draper-ies still grace many homes in Mansfield. Sandy was a talented seamstress who also made many beautiful cre-ations in needlepoint and cross-stitch. Sandy was universally loved and will be missed by many people. She had a wonderful sense of humor, which she expressed until the end. Sandy was also one “tough cookie,” as she had to be while raising five children. She lived her last days with grace, remaining a brilliant role model until the end. Sandy was a faithful congregant for 49 years at St. Jude Catholic Church in Mansfield. A service will be held at St. Jude on May 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon following at the Walnut Creek Country Club. Sandy will later be inurned at DFW National Cemetery. As a proud breast-cancer survivor for 40 years, Sandy would love to know that any memorial contributions will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
