TCU is adding pass rush depth to its defense this recruiting season.

The latest is landing Thomas Armstrong, a three-star DE out of Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood, Florida.

Armstrong announced his commitment on Twitter Thursday. The 6foot-3, 220-pound South Florida native had offers from other schools such as Rutgers, South Florida and Stetson.

Armstrong joins Adam Plant Jr., a Las Vegas native, and Aledo’s Colt Ellison as the defensive ends in the 2019 class. Armstrong is listed as a strongside defensive end, while Plant and Ellison are weakside.

The Frogs are an attractive program for defensive ends. The school’s starting two defensive ends this season, Ben Banogu and L.J. Collier, were named first-team All-Big 12 on Wednesday. Both are NFL prospects and expected to follow in the line of TCU pass rushers to make it to the pros such as Jerry Hughes.

Plus, TCU will have opportunities for younger players to get playing time next season. Banogu and Collier are seniors, as is Michael Epley.

Armstrong is the 18th hard commit for a TCU recruiting class ranked as No. 33 in the nation, according to 247Sports.
