Television chef Sandra Lee is known to whip up savory slow-cooked short ribs, but in 2015 she was served a recipe for disaster. The 52-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer and — with the support of her partner, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo — decided to have a double mastectomy. In an effort to shine a light on the importance of early breast-cancer detection, Lee documents her difficult road to becoming cancer-free.
