EVER since Duchess Meghan wed Prince Harry on May 19, the former actress has been busy modernizing the monarchy — much to the ire of Queen Elizabeth II. Sources dish that in her latest move ruffling Her Majesty’s feathers, the pregnant princess demanded the palace make way for her mother, Doria Ragland, to help the happy couple raise the newest royal. But insiders say the queen laid down another set of exhaustive edicts — and Doria is ready to fight back! A whistle-blower in Buckingham Palace tells Star a row first sparked when the former yoga instructor, 62, was told she couldn’t embrace her daughter, 37, because royals aren’t allowed to show PDA. “Doria made it clear that no one was going to stop her from hugging her own daughter, not even the leader of the monarchy. She finds all these strict rules oppressive, but this one was the tip of the iceberg,” reveals the palace insider, adding that the war has only just begun!
QUEEN OF MEAN Meghan has been met with an onslaught of criticism from the 92-year-old monarch ever since she began dating Harry, 34, in 2016. No matter how hard the former Suits star and divorcée tried to fit in, there seemed to be no pleasing her grandmother-in-law. And palace moles whisper that Doria was dumbfounded when she learned of the cloistered life Meghan is being forced to lead — and can’t bear to follow suit! While the queen has reportedly invited Doria for Christmas, sources say she doesn’t want to follow palace procedures. “There’s no eating at the table once Her Majesty finishes, and no shellfish on the menu because it can cause food poisoning,” dishes the royal reporter, adding that Meghan’s mother can’t make head or tail of the bizarre behavior. “She can’t even play her favorite board game, Monopoly, and no one can tell her why!” groans our source. “It’s just another one of those rules that make no sense. Doria also can’t take selfies with Meghan; they’re forbidden.” And while sources say that Harry, has “assured his new mother-in-law she’d get used to the way things are done,” pals insist that Doria won’t back down…
PALACE PANDEMONIUM Tensions are sure to reach an all-time high with a new baby on the horizon, especially since Harry and Meghan will reportedly swap their two-bedroom pad at Kensington Palace for Frogmore Cottage, a Grade II-listed 10-bedroom home near Windsor Castle — with enough room for Doria! “Meghan is demanding an extra room be built for her mother at Frogmore House, which the queen finds ostentatious,” says Star’s source. And while Meghan and Harry are sure to get their way, sources say Her Majesty will have the last laugh. “The queen doesn’t like the grip Doria has on Harry and Meghan,” says our source, adding that she’s ready to go toe to toe with Meghan’s mom upon move-in — despite palace reps denying Star’s story. “After all, there’s no love lost between Doria and the queen.”
