Angelina Jolie’s Political Passion?

Star has the scoop on her disastrous plan to run for office.

WHAT better time to run for office than when you’re already making headlines? That seems to be Angelina Jolie’s attitude! In a recent interview, the stunning leading lady all but fessed up to aspirations of political leadership. “I always say I’ll go where I’m needed,” she told the BBC. “I don’t know if I’m a fit for politics, but I’ve also joked that I don’t know if I’ve got a skeleton left in my closet. I’m pretty open and out there. I can take a lot on the chin. That’s good. I honestly will do whatever I think can really make a change.” Friends say that the movie star turned humanitarian, 43, may be nursing a dream to yet again escape bad press and rebrand herself as a charitable icon, but given the state of her crumbling family and financial affairs, she should be focusing on cleaning up messes closer to home. “She’s bracing herself for more ugliness with Brad [Pitt] when they sit down to carve up their assets,” an insider confides. “Her finances aren’t in a good place at all. Her house is way too big, and the monthly payments are enough to make you wince.” Indeed, Angie’s palatial $25 million California compound (which once belonged to studio boss Cecil B. DeMille) is massive even with six kids — Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — running around. And, given that she’s been focusing more on low-profit pet projects like First They Killed My Father versus big-budget blockbusters, there’s definitely more cash going out than coming in. “She may want to launch these ambitious projects, but her energy levels and support system aren’t there like they used to be,” concedes the insider. “Angie’s image has taken a hit in this divorce, and she’s desperate to repair it. But thinking she can run for office with no energy and very little money while solo parenting is downright delusional.”
