Sources tell Star Zac Efron has been striking out on dating apps — because potential dates don’t believe it’s really him! “Every day Zac would check his Tinder messages, only to find it empty,” says a friend. “He did get a couple of short notes from women, but they were questioning his identity and thought he was faking it.”
Turns out, the 34-year-old, who split from Australian model Vanessa Valladares in April, has been impersonated in online dating profiles before. “A few years ago, some young guy pretended to be him and set out to talk to and befriend rich gay guys,” adds the insider. Frustrated, the High School Musical alum decided to step back from his search for love. “Friends suggested he try the exclusive dating site Raya,” says the pal. “But he says the women who sign up for that are after successful guys. He wants to be considered because he’s a good person, not because he’s a celebrity.” ★
