TINA’S BIG SPLURGE
No downsizing for Tina Turner! At 82 and in poor health, the “Private Dancer” singer stunned friends by buying a $78 million 10-building estate in Switzerland with husband of nine years, Erwin Bach, 66. “Tina has been ill for a few years now, and we all expected her and Erwin to move from their rented home in Zurich to the country,” says a friend. “But when we heard they bought this huge property, we couldn’t understand why.”
She’s certainly not hurting for cash. In October, music publisher BMG snapped up the rights to her catalogue for a reported $50 million. And, after becoming a Swiss citizen in 2013, the Nutbush, Tenn., native was finally permitted to buy property in her adopted homeland. “I need nature and solitude, they nurture me,” the rock legend once said. “My idea of a vacation is reading a book on the terrace while my husband cooks dinner.” ★
