Don't let her bratty teen roles fool you, Sydney Sweeney is driven. In a new interview, the Euphoria star reveals she even used a PowerPoint presentation to convince her family to move from Spokane to Los Angeles when she was just a preteen. While the gamble ultimately paid off career-wise, the 24-year-old says her quest for fame was a disaster for her family. “After we moved to L.A. so I could act, finances were a huge stress,” the White Lotus standout tells Cosmopolitan. “My dad lost his job and we went bankrupt.” Worse, the money woes led to her parents’ divorce. “They always say, ‘It wasn’t your fault,’” admits the actress, adding that her brother did blame her for their parents’ split. (Like Euphoria’s Cassie, she acted out with guys: “I was looking for love to replace the emptiness of home.”) She’s close with her brother again, she relates, but the damage was lasting. “My dad and I kind of drifted apart, which broke my heart.” ★
