EMOTIONAL GOODBYE TO HIS FATHER

-

Home is where the heart is! Michael Douglas has finally found closure two years after the death of his father, Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas. When the 77-year-old learned that his dad’s Montecito, Calif., home had just sold for $6.8 million, a source tells Star, the Behind the Candleabra actor asked the new buyers if he could come spend an afternoon at the abode before they moved in — so he could reminisce about his celebrated father, who died at age 103 in February 2020. (Michael’s mom, Diana Dill, who split from Kirk in 1951, died in 2015. Kirk’s second wife, Anne, lived to 102.) “The new owners were happy to comply, and about six weeks ago Michael made the solo trip,” says the insider. “He spent a few hours thinking about the many times he visited his Kirk and Anne at their weekend retreat. It was tear-filled, but recalling so many fond memories of his father also filled Michael with love.” When he left the property for the last time, adds the source, “he said he felt as if he’d been granted one last visit with his father.” ★
