The Princess Switch star, 33, has been dating the Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop, 25, for over a year after sliding into his DMs. “Cole’s a nice guy but he’s a bit of a nobody and can be really awkward at times,” the source says. “Vanessa’s friends just don’t get it. They think she’s dating way below her standards. She can have anyone she wants, why him?” The High School Musical alum famously dated Zac Efron from 2005 to 2010 and Austin Butler from 2011 to 2019 — and her pals want to see her with another big Hollywood name. “Vanessa doesn’t care what anyone thinks though,” says the source. “Cole makes her happy and she makes him happy.
