THANDIWE NEWTON: SPIRALING?
It’s been a tumultuous few weeks for Thandiwe Newton. In mid-April, she shocked fans by quitting Magic Mike’s Last Dance to deal with what a Warner Bros. spokesman called “family matters.” Around the same time, reports surfaced that the 49-year-old had split from her husband of 24 years, writer/ director Ol Parker, 52. Soon the mom of three was spotted kissing 25-year-old rapper Lonr in Malibu. “She’s clearly acting erratic and friends are urging her to go to rehab or some other treatment,” an insider tells Star. “She needs to restore some balance in her life.” The English star has been open about her struggles in the past, telling Vogue she suffered “a kind of PTSD” and developed an eating disorder after being abused as a young actress. “Thandiwe’s been having emotional issues since the split,” adds the insider. “Friends are worried she’s spiraling.” ★
