HOW THERAPY SAVED ME
HARRY STYLES was reluctant to go into therapy when he started five years ago. “I thought it meant that you were broken,” the 28-year-old admitted in a recent interview. “I wanted to be the one who could say I didn’t need it.”
The former One Directioner, who shot to fame at age 16, quickly changed his tune. In a chat with Better Homes &
Gardens about his new solo album, Harry’s House, he revealed that sessions with his therapist allowed him to process his past — and feel things more deeply. In the past, he said, he had a tendency to “emotionally coast.” Not anymore. “Losing it crying, losing it laughing — there’s no way, I don’t think, to feel more alive than that,” he gushed.
One topic he’s keeping close to his chest: the “Watermelon Sugar” singer’s relationship with director Olivia Wilde, 38. But he did allow that he struggled to work through intimacy issues. “For a long time, it felt like the only thing that was mine was my sex life,” he related, adding, “Working out who I could trust was stressful.” ★
