Priscilla was in ninth grade when she fell for Elvis while the rock star was stationed in Germany, where her family lived. “She was swept away by him,” says author Alanna Nash.

WEDDING BELLS

They wed in a small, private ceremony in Las Vegas in 1967. “We were nervous,” said Priscilla. “It’s a big commitment.”

SETTLING DOWN

By most accounts, Elvis was not cut out for traditional family life, even after the 1968 birth of their only child. “Being Elvis came first,” says Nash.

DAD TIME

Lisa Marie has nothing but fond memories of her father. “I learned so much from him,” she’s said of her dad. “He was spectacular.”

LASTING BOND

Elvis and Priscilla remained “very close” after their 1973 divorce. “He would still come over my house,” she’s said. They held hands leaving the courthouse.
