FIGHTING FOR THEIR MARRIAGE

AFTER SHOCKING HIS FAMILY BY UN-RETIRING, THE NFL GREAT ADMITS HE CAN ‘DO BETTER’ FOR HIS WIFE AND THREE KIDS.

-

IT wasn’t the Colosseum or the cuisine. Tom Brady’s favorite part of a recent trip to Italy was simply spending time with his rambunctious kids. “They were wrestling for like five straight days in the car,” he recalled. “And every time I got in the car, I was like, ‘What’s wrong with you? Little animals!’ It was just so cute. That’s what I remember more than anything .... As long as we’re all together, I’m pretty cool.”

The NFL great, who abruptly ended his retirement in March after just 40 days, admits he has work to do on balancing football and family. “I can still do a better job of that,” he recently mused. “It’s just constantly trying to be a little bit better each day.” And his wife, Gisele Bündchen, mom to Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9 (he also shares 14-year-old John with ex Bridget Moynahan), is making sure he sticks to the plan. “He and Gisele had a heart-to-heart where she said, ‘This is what I expect,’ and he promised to do it,” an insider tells Star. “He knows

it’s more than words. It’s actions.”

EVER THE COMPETITOR

Talking about his retirement 180, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB admitted his love of the game won out. “You just get super competitive,” he’s said. “I think I’m part crazy.” Gisele was furious. “When Tom retired, she thought she finally got her husband back,” reveals the insider. “She was looking forward to Tom being more present as a dad and a husband.” Before their sit-down, says the insider, “things were tense.”

To get back on track, the 44-year-old treats his pledge like football training. “Tom wants to achieve the optimum results at home,” says the insider. “Just as he does on the field.” That means driving the kids to their activities and being a more available dad. For type-A Tom, it’s been a revelation. “I love the time I have with my family off-season,” he’s said, adding, “We don’t have to do much. I think it’s not about where we’re going. It’s just us all.”

Meanwhile, the seven-time Super Bowl champ and the supermodel, 41, are building their eco-friendly dream home on Miami’s exclusive Indian Creek Island. “Gisele says he’s got her full support,” says the insider. “But she’s made it clear this is his last season.” ★
