RARE FLOP FOR JAMIE
It has an all-star cast, but All Star Weekend, Jamie Foxx’s directorial debut, can’t find an audience.
In a recent interview, Foxx blamed “cancel culture” for the flick’s failure to find a buyer.
The Hangover-style story, starring Eva Longoria, Gerald Butler, Jeremy Piven and other big names, follows two basketball fans as they try to attend a big NBA game. The 54-year-old hinted that the non-Latino Robert Downey Jr.’s turn as a Mexican character was a problem with the P.C. police. “It’s been tough with the lay of the land when it comes to comedy, man,” lamented the Oscar winner. But sources tell Star there’s a simpler reason the movie has sat on the shelf since 2016. “People at big film companies are looking at All Star Weekend and saying it’s a real stinker,” says an insider. “The comedy just doesn’t work.” ★
