ABIGAIL BRESLIN: I’M A SURVIVOR

-

Hoping to help “some people feel a little less alone,” Abigail Breslin shared her harrowing story of domestic abuse on social media Oct. 14. The Little Miss Sunshine star revealed that she had been beaten and locked in rooms during a twoyear relationhip and would cover up bruises with makeup, “because in some way, I still cared for this person.” Verbal abuse left the 26-year-old feeling “unworthy” of love. “I felt like I deserved less than dirt,” she wrote. “I was certain there must be something WRONG with ME.”

With the help of friends and family, the Signs actress shared, she was able to leave the situation. Now engaged to Ira Kunyansky, she offered hope to other survivors. “I know it seems impossible and terrifying, but you have survived so much, and you CAN survive leaving if you have the right tools and support.” ★
