The GMA anchor and longtime love Amber Laign are getting hitched.

Ready to wed — finally! After nearly 18 years of dating, Robin Roberts and her girlfriend, Amber Laign, are planning to tie the knot in 2023, the GMA anchor let slip on air. “I’m saying yes to marriage,” the 62-year-old told motivational speaker Gabby Bernstein on the ABC morning show. “We’re getting married this year.”

Robin and the 48-year-old massage therapist and founder of Plant Juice Oils were spurred to make things official by Amber’s successful breast cancer battle after being diagnosed in 2021. Says a source, “Everything Amber went through, her bravery and courage, it made them realize they were silly to keep putting it off.”

Robin, who weathered her own bout with breast cancer in 2007, as well as a form of cancer requiring a bone marrow transplant in 2012, has revealed that she “barely shed a tear” during her own health struggles, but was reduced to “a puddle” during Amber’s illness. “It made her realize life is short,” adds the source. On the show, the Emmy winner admitted she and Amber had discussed marriage, but had put it off until Amber was well. Now, she said, they’re ready for “the next chapter.”

Don’t expect any televised vows, however. The source shares that while Robin plans to share “some details” of her upcoming nuptials on camera, the couple is planning a small, intimate wedding with just family and close friends in attendance. “Neither wants their wedding to be a national event.” H
