WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM HER FRIENDS, COURTENEY COX IS HONORED WITH A HOLLYWOOD STAR.
IT was a mini Friends reunion when Courteney Cox got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Feb. 27. “Courteney, we just want to say that we’re deeply, deeply proud to know you,” costar Lisa Kudrow said of her longtime pal, calling her a “truly good and decent human being.” Jennifer Aniston noted the 58-year-old’s similarities with her perfectionist character Monica Gellar, quipping, “I’m just saying, thank God this star is straight.”
The honor comes as the actress is back on screen as reporter Gale Weathers in the latest installment of the Scream franchise (she’s also on Warner Bros. TV’s Shining Vale). In a recent interview, the Alabama native mused about a career that took her from a Bruce Springsteen video to Family Ties, Cougar Town and beyond. “The place I am in right now is the happiest I’ve ever been,” the mom of Coco, 18, with ex David Arquette, told Variety. “There’s a lot of things that are not great about getting older, but there’s a lot of great things, and that is being in a place where I love working. I try harder now at things. I care more.”
Back at the Walk of Fame, Courteney got teary as she recalled a time when she nearly gave up on her dreams. With only enough money to last two weeks or so, she got a call from her dad, who suggested she come home and take a stab at selling pools. “The next day I got Family Ties,” she said. “This will make me cry because I do love my dad, but I just want to say that I know he’s really proud of me, and it does look like I’m here to stay.” H
