Dola Thompson Criddle
Mrs. Dola Thompson Criddle, 93, passed away on October 3, 2016, at her residence in West Point. Mrs. Dola was born in Clay County on January 29, 1924, to the late Johnny Carroll and Ackie Coggins Thompson. She was a Sales Clerk for Hills Department Store in West Point. She was a member of West End Baptist Church where she was the Secretary of the Harvest Workers Sunday School Class. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary. She loved the Atlanta Braves. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend. She married Troy Dempsey Criddle, Sr. on May 13, 1943, in Houston and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2011. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Morton Calvert, a son, Troy D. Criddle, Jr., three sisters: Mary Alice McFalls, Nancy Pierce, and Annie Ruth Bray and three brothers: Joe, Bud, and Charles Thompson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roy Myers officiating and assisted by Reverend Chris Layton. Burial will follow in the Sunset of Angels Cemetery near West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include Three Daughters, Barbara Wilder, Linda Henderson (Victor), and Patsy Bennett; One Son, Tommie Lee Criddle (Teresa) all of West Point, Seventeen Grandchildren, Twenty-nine Great-Grandchildren, and Nine Great-Great Grandchildren; and One Brother: Johnnie Thompson of Citronelle, AL; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
Pallbearers will be her Grandsons: Chad Wilder, J.D. Morton, Gregg Morton, Jr., John Turner, Brian Turner, Troy Criddle, III, Gregory Bennett, Jarrott Bennett, Wesley Criddle, and Skipper Wilder.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Stewart, Nurses and Staff of Gentiva Hospice, and the Harvest Workers Sunday School Class at West End Baptist Church.
