AROUND TOWN ANNOUNCEMENT POLICIES
The Around Town calendar is a free service offered by the Starkville Daily News. The calendars runs daily as space allows. Announcements should be submitted via e-mail to life@starkvilledailynews.com by 2 p.m. the day prior to publication and be no more than 50 words in length. Religious events will be listed Saturdays on the Faith page. Recurring events will run on Sundays only. One-time events will run Monday through Friday.

◆ Homestead Education Center Sustainable Sunday — On May May 14th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., John Cromer, Mississippi's first certified NABCEP PV Installer & solar design author/instructor, will lead a discussion of solar payback, utility policy, and ownership issues unique to Mississippi. Batteries and commercial payback will also be discussed. Sustainable Sundays are FREE and open to the public
◆ Summer Camp Registration Open — Registration open for our June/July 2017 summer camps at Starkville Academy. We will offer a variety of camps for students of all ages and skill levels. You can download a full list of our camps at starkvilleacademy.org and may register online or download forms. ◆ Free Computer Class — Emerson Family Resource Center will hold the class from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
◆ Rotary — The Starkville Rotary Club meets at 11:45 a.m. at the Starkville Country Club
◆ Free Country Line Dancing — Classes every Monday at the Travis Outlaw Center on Lynn Lane in Starkville. An advanced class is held at noon, and a beginner class is held at 1 p.m. Men and women are welcome to participate. Come have fun
◆ Civitan Club — The Starkville Civitan Club will meet May 15 at noon at Beef ‘O' Brady's. Guest speaker will be Ms. Julie Jones from SOC School District

◆ Kiwanis Meeting — Starkville Kiwanis Club will only meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month through August. Weekly meetings will resume in September

◆ Master Gardeners Meeting — The Oktibbeha County Master Gardeners, including new interns, will meet at the county Extension Office May 11 at 10 a.m. A program on Pollinators in the Garden will be presented by Margaret Copeland and Dianne Patterson. A business session will follow the program
◆ Chik-fil-A Chicken Tiki Luau — Third Annual Chicken Tiki Luau will be held at Chick-fil-A Starkville to celebrate the end of another school year on Thursday, May 11, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The free community event will feature performances by the Heavenly Metal of the South, the steel drum band from First United Methodist Church
◆ Book Signing — On May 11, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Book Mart on Main Street will host a book signing for authors Charline R. McCord and Judy H. Tucker for their book “A Year in Mississippi”

◆ SHS Choral Music Department — SHS Choral Music Department presents A Special Event Cabaret! It will take place May 12 & 13, 6:30 pm, at the SHS Theater, and will be featuring The SHS Singers Solo and Ensemble Performances

◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church
◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
