CLEVELAND – Delta State University women’s basketball head coach Craig Roden and his staff have announced the signing of East Mississippi Community College standout Quantesha Patterson.

The East Webster High School product joins the Lady Statesmen after a stellar career with EMCC. Patterson was an NJCCA All-Region 23 performer for each of the last two seasons with the Lions, and has been an MACJAC first team All-State performer in that same time span. Patterson also represented EMCC in the MACJC Women’s All-Star Game in Decatur this past season.

Patterson helped anchor East Mississippi’s squad that past two seasons, tallying career marks of 19 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocked shots in her 44 games played for Lions.

The 5-11 Maben native averaged 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game and collected 13 double-doubles this year for the Lions, ranking third nationally in field goal percentage (63.7 percent). She also contributed two steals per game and 1.3 blocks per game for EMCC. She went for 20 or more points eight times this year, including a pair of 27-point double-doubles against East Central and Northeast Mississippi.

Patterson burst onto the collegiate scene in her freshman season, ranking ninth in the country with 20.4 points per game (which was the second best mark of any NJCCA freshman in 2015-16). She also ranked second in the country in field goal percentage, posting a 65.8 percent clip. She went for 30 or more points on four separate occasions and tallied a 34-point outing against Northwest Mississippi.

She joins the ranks of former Delta State women’s basketball players Chadisty Hickman (2012-14) and Takera Mitchell (2014-16), who also played at East Mississippi before moving on to careers with the Lady Statesmen.

“Quantesha is a very talented player who won a state championship at East Webster High School, and then went on to put up some impressive numbers at EMCC in the junior college ranks,” Roden said. “She is a special player and we are excited to have her in Green-and-White.

“Patterson adds strength to a pretty good class that we have for this upcoming year, and we hope to add a few more here in the coming weeks.”
