ICC adds football assistants

FULTON – Itawamba Community College welcomes the addition of Chad Cook and Scott Smouse to its football coaching staff.

Cook comes to ICC after spending the past five seasons as head coach at Ripley High School. He led the Tigers to fivestraight playoff appearances and broke every offensive record in the program's proud history.

Before taking over at Ripley, he spent five seasons as head coach at Shannon High School and was chosen the 2010 Northeast Mississippi Daily Coach of the Year. The Calhoun City native also spent three seasons as head coach at Yazoo County High School.

Cook replaces Nick Coleman, who is now a member of the Tennessee Tech University coaching staff.

Smouse comes to Fulton after spending the last six season at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. He was the offensive line coach for all six years and the running game coordinator for the last four season.

Prior to joining the Paladin program, the Greensboro, N.C. native spent three seasons at Jacksonville State. Smouse spent two seasons at East Mississippi Community College after starting his coaching career with the Louisiana State University football program, where he was a graduate assistant on the 2003 national championship team.

Smouse takes over for Cody Woodiel, who is now an offensive line assistant coach at the University of Oregon.

The Indians open the 2017 season on the road at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on August 31 before hosting Hinds Community College on September 7 for their home opener.
