East Webster wins 44-6 on road

CARROLTON – The East Webster Wolverines tuned up for their Class 2A, Region 4 opener with Eupora next week with a 44-6 victory over J.Z. George on the road Friday.

The Wolverines improved their record to 5-1 with their second win in a row.

Peyton Fowler scored a touchdown for East Webster to extend a lead to 21-6 in the first half.

Sophomore Gray McCarter had a career-high two touchdowns for the Wolverines, while kicker Parker Burleson was perfect on his five extra-point attempts and also kicked a 40-yard field goal.

Nanih Waiya 49, French Camp 14

NANIH WAIYA – The Nanih Waiya Warriors unleashed their two-headed monster at running back in the form of Chris Smith and Taemaus Glass and won easily in Class A, Region 3.

Nanih Waiya remained undefeated overall and in the division, while French Camp fell to 1-1 in the division and 2-3 overall.

Smith for the Warriors going with a touchdown in the first quarter, then Glass also rushed in a score to extend the lead to 14-7.

After the Panthers scored with 9:50 in second quarter, Smith got his second touchdown of the night and Nanih Waiya went up 21-7 with 6:30 remaining in second quarter.

The Warriors continued to pour it on and led 42-7 at halftime.

French Camp returns home to take on West Lowndes next week.
